Book Review : A Better World (Brilliance #2) by Marcus Sakey

Synopsis :
The brilliants changed everything.

Since 1980, 1% of the world has been born with gifts we’d only dreamed of. The ability to sense a person’s most intimate secrets, or predict the stock market, or move virtually unseen. For thirty years the world has struggled with a growing divide between the exceptional...and the rest of us.

Now a terrorist network led by brilliants has crippled three cities. Supermarket shelves stand empty. 911 calls go unanswered. Fanatics are burning people alive.

Nick Cooper has always fought to make the world better for his children. As both a brilliant and an advisor to the president of the United States, he’s against everything the terrorists represent. But as America slides toward a devastating civil war, Cooper is forced to play a game he dares not lose—because his opponents have their own vision of a better world.

And to reach it, they’re willing to burn this one down.

Review :
It's a bit late since I read and decide to review it. But still better late than never.

This book continue directly from the previous one. Nick Cooper now unemployed thought he do good things. Instead he just make the looming war closer and closer. I cannot tell the story more without spoiling it. Anyway, I really love the story. Mr. Sakey story make us feel sad because we kind of know that it won't end happily for both sides. Still you just keep reading to find what will happen next. You wonder what kind of twist will happen. Before you know, the story end with cliffhanger for the last one in this series. I find this second installment a little downgrade, maybe because it gives us background for the final "war" instead of "war" itself. So, it is full of information and question instead of action and answer. Not saying there's no action in this second installment. Anyway, if you read the first one, then you should read this too and then decide whether it worth your time to read the final one. For me, it really worth it.

My rating : 4 of 5

Angela
